The active ingredient in Bushman is DEET, recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) as the most effective mosquito protection available. DEET was originally developed in the USA for protection against insect-borne diseases in tropical environments and is approved for use in Sweden by the Swedish Chemicals Agency. Bushman insect repellent was developed in the 1980s by Tom Bethurem, an Australian chemist living in the mosquito-ridden swamplands of northern Australia. It was tested and refined over many years in these harsh conditions to ensure maximum protection and optimal performance in extreme environments.
